Helena Sue (Stinson) Gentry

Helena Sue Gentry, age 90, of Fountain Run passed from this life on Friday, December 9, 2022. She was born April 5, 1932 in Allen County. She was the daughter of the late George Allen Stinson and Lucy (Bohanon) Stinson. She was saved at a young age and had been a member at White Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist church.

On August 28, 1948 she married the love of her life James Lester Gentry who preceded her in death on December 28, 1999. She is survived by two daughters- Linda Faye Proffitt and Wanda Jean Anderson; four grandchildren, Angela Proffitt, George Steven Proffitt, Brandy (Stanton) Zackery, and Seth Howard, four great-grandchildren-Kaitlyn (Jake) Slaughter, Cameron Proffitt, Tylor Proffitt and Mercedes Proffitt, and two very special great-great-grandchildren- Abrahm Proffitt and Oakley James Slaughter. 

Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry Anderson; brother, Hillous Stinson, brother Clovis Stinson and sister-in-law, Kaisie Stinson; and sister Dorothy Short & brother-in-law, Bill Short, infant brothers Tillous, Leroy and a infant sister, Nellie Mae.

Helena was an avid seamstress and quilted quilts for people all over, owning a fabric shop at one time. She loved to read and read enough books to fill a library. She loved to travel and found out later in life that flying was the only way to do so. Family meant everything to her and many of her travels were to see, or be with her family. 

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Fountain Run Funeral Home. Visitation is Friday, December 16 from 4-8 p.m., and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. until service at 1:00 p.m. Burial is in White Oak Ridge Cemetery.
