Duel Hascal Cherry, age 76, of Fountain Run, KY, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 in Nashville, TN.
Duel was born on August 8, 1946, in Flippin, KY, a son of the late Sammy W. and Estelle (Coons) Cherry. Duel was a Machinist at AVCO in Nashville, TN helping make bombs during the Vietnam War, he was a farmer, co-owner of D & H Grocery & Hardware in Fountain Run & a Rural Mail Carrier for 30 ½ years. He was a member and attended The Old Brick Missionary Baptist Church. He was married to the late Judy Howard, June, 1967, she preceded him in death December 30, 2013.
He is survived by his son, Mark & Tonya Cherry & grandson, John Mark Cherry all of Fountain Run, granddaughter, Megan & husband Loyd Britt of Glasgow, sisters, Joyce Hudson & husband Jim & Judy Hatcher of Bowling Green & Jan Gregory & husband Victor of Glasgow, brothers, Dale Cherry & wife Vickie of Lafayette, Doyle & David Cherry of Gamaliel, mother-in-law Joyce Howard & sister-in-law Jane Johnson & husband Mike all of Glasgow, sister-in-law, Marilyn (Proffitt) Cherry of Georgia and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Fountain Run Funeral Home with Brother Kyle Gammons officiating, burial will follow in the Fountain Run Cemetery. John Mark Cherry, Loyd Britt, Dale Cherry, Doyle Cherry, Jim Hudson & Greg Jones will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 20th 4 to 8 p.m. at the Fountain Run Funeral Home and after 8 a.m. Tuesday till service time at 12 noon.
Other than his parents & wife Judy he is preceded in death by brothers, Dennis & Don Cherry, sister-in-law, Peggy Cherry, brothers-in-law, David Hatcher & Jeff Browning & father-in-law, John Wallace Howard.
In lieu of flowers donations in Duel’s memory are suggested to Fountain Run Cemetery.
