Lou Ann Wood Russell, age 88, former resident of Fountain Run, KY, currently living with her daughter in Bowling Green, KY, passed away on November 8, 2016 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. Lou Ann was born November 25, 1927 daughter of Levy and Allie (Layne) Wood who preceded her in death along with two brothers L. G. Wood and Albert Wood.

Lou Ann was the valedictorian of her graduating class from Fountain Run High School.  She attended Western Kentucky University and taught school in her earlier years.  She was a nurse’s aide at the Allen County Hospital in Scottsville, KY for 20 years.  Lou Ann loved caring for people as made evident by caring for and staying in the homes of more than 20 individuals after the passing of her husband in 1984. Lou Ann married Vaudie Russell on December 6, 1950 in Glasgow, KY, was chosen by the Fountain Run Women’s Club as Woman of the year in 1992, a member of the Eastern Star and was a member of Fountain Run Old Missionary Baptist Church.

Lou Ann is survived by her daughter, Diane Russell Amos (Ronnie), grandchildren, Heather Russell Lashley (Kevin), Heath Crawford (Kellie), Joshua Amos (Lindsey), and great-grandchildren, Easton Russell Crawford and Anniston Lee Crawford, all of Bowling Green, KY, her sisters Mary Thomas and Doris Overstreet both of Glasgow, KY, several nieces, nephews and friends.  Special neighbors, Randall and Patty Strode, Melinda Meredith and Melanie Lord.

Visitation will be Friday, November 11, 2016 from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M., with the funeral to follow at 11 A.M. at the Fountain Run Old Missionary Baptist Church.  Lou Ann will be laid to rest at the Fountain Run Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Fountain Run Old Missionary Baptist Church, Fountain Run Cemetery or Wood Cemetery in her name.
